Red Stag Supper Club & City Salvage

On Saturday, FindFunish had a "warehouse" sale. This prompted a trip over there (of course), which eventually led us to their new store front and then onto some places in that area. While exploring is great fun, it is honestly sometimes very intimidating, especially for Bill. He likes everything planned. I could totally jump on a plane to anywhere and just wing it, at least that's what I tell myself.

Anyways, Bill had run a 5K that morning and I slept in, so both of us were in need of food. I tried to talk him into the Greek cafe & deli a few doors down from find furnish, because a gyro sounded awesome. Bill was not feeling it... Then, I spotted a deer/elk/animal...

Insert apologies about iphone photos...

I was all "that looks like a bar, let's go there," implying burgers and beer. He agreed and we went. It was the Red Stag Supper Club and they were still serving brunch. Delicious. Seriously, amazingly good. We definitely plan to go back for a dinner sometime soon to check out the regular menu.

After we filled ourselves with deliciousness, we went next door to City Salvage...

The name sounded totally familiar and it took me awhile to figure it out. I've been on a DIY Network stint of watching and have really been enjoying Rehab Addict. I think all of the episodes I've watched have been shot in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and City Salvage is one of the salvage stores that host Nicole Curtis goes to look at / buy light fixtures and cabinets. There was even a light fixture she pointed out in one episode that I saw... She said something about how crazy it was and wanting to be alerted when someone bought it so she could see where it was being put. I would also like to see that...

City Salvage is pretty awesome overall. There is a lot of cool things there but nothing really fell into the mid century category at the time. Lots of Art Deco and Victorian style things -- doors, bars, etc. If you're in the neighborhood, I would definitely recommend checking out both places, make an afternoon out of it. I'm pretty sure that there was some other sweet places to discover in the area, but we had to go Mother's Day card/gift shopping, so that sort of took priority over exploring for the rest of the afternoon.
